Preparation

The actual installation procedure takes less than two minutes on most sites. Kunena is a Joomla component and it is installed like any other Joomla extension using the Joomla installer.

  2. Make sure that you have properly implemented Joomla Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

This document describes only the additional steps after installing Kunena 6.x. If you are not familiar with the installation procedure, please refer to the Installation document.

It’s important to backup first before doing the installation.

Installing Kunena 6.x

  1. First, check if your website meets the requirements.
  2. Create a full backup
  3. Install Kunena 6.x.
  4. When the installation is finished, go to the Kunena Dashboard.

Create the Kunena menu

  1. Click on this button in the Dashboard, or navigate manually from the Dashboard to Tools -> Menu Manager

  1. Click on top the button Restore Kunena Menu

  1. Go to the main menu and publish the menu item created for you in your top-level/main menu.

Install sample data

  1. Go to the Joomla dashboard and install the sample data.

The forum should now be ready and you can test and customize it.
