We would like to be able to assign special ranks by group membership.
Background
We are a running a forum mainly for members of our club. But we also allow guests to post after registration. Club members need to be distinguished visually as well as administratively, so our moderators know who should have access to which board/category without having to look in the backend.
All members are in a special group. Members in that group should be assigned a special rank Member, so they receive the membership badge in their profile. We also have smaller groups within the member community according to role, e.g. Management, Editor, which sometimes receive yet another special rank, so members know whom to contact regarding certain questions/requests.
Having ranks assigned by group, allows us to ensure information in the forum is always in accordance with the rights assigned in Joomla. We now have to do it manually and keep it up to date manually. Assigning it individually per user for 600+ users is not an option. That means we are doing it directly in the database, initially.
