Kunena 6.3.0 released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 6.3.0 [K 6.3.0] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 4.4.x/5.0.x/5.1.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 6.3

Working with Kunena Menu (Index, Recent Topics...) was created by Matias
Kunena 1.6 uses Joomla menus to navigate inside Kunena. It's very powerful and flexible system enabling many new features, but it can also be hard to work with -- if you don't know what you are doing.

Our router works in very different way to all other Joomla components -- it always tries to find the best menu item and allows you to create site, where all categories/pages can have its own modules and even its own template. You can also break forum into many parts, having your own sub-forum for every section in your site. It has been done in Kunena.com (Playground) and in a few other sites as GE Transportation (Just navigate between the categories and see how everything changes).

But this power comes with a price: you need to know how Joomla menus work. Most of the other components do not use the menu like Kunena does, and because of that they allow you to make mistakes -- they just use wrong menu item and you probably wont even notice it. In Kunena broken menu leads often to more serious issues, like missing menus or wrong pages.

If you are having issues with your menu, you should also check if your menu module supports Menu Aliases / Menu Links. But instead of Kunena, you can point the link to your main page or any other page.

If the link doesn't show up, is broken, pointing to wrong page etc, it's likely that your menu doesn't support aliases.

Creating Menu Aliases is explained in Wiki: Customised menus (see above).

If your menu doesn't support Menu Aliases you have three choices:
  1. Use Type: Kunena: Entry Page pointing to Kunena Menu, just do not use same Alias/URL: /forum (in English)
  2. Copy Kunena Menu into your main menu
  3. Upgrade your template or menu module (if not working: Report a bug)
