This is not a support forum for sh404SEF or its related products. For sh404SEF support you should visit sh404SEF .

The information given in this category is intended to guide users who want to use sh404SEF with Kunena and, mostly, was written by Kunena users. The information here is not necessarily accurate, up-to-date nor is it intended to replace the support given by the developers of sh404SEF.

If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

To all members of the Kunena community who use sh404SEF

sh404SEF is a commercially-available Joomla extension. The team that developed sh404SEF is independent of and has not affiliation with the Kunena project.

People who use sh404SEF will have problems using Kunena.

sh404SEF has not been fully compatible with Kunena (and the Kunena project team is not responsible for testing compatibility with Kunena and the sh404SEF product) for over a year (since the development of K 2.0) - see Interoperability with other Joomla extensions

The following information was posted at the sh404SEF website on 22-Aug-2013

We have made a concerted effort to encourage extension developers to build sh404SEF support into their extensions. JCal Pro, RedShop, K2 and EasyBlog are notable examples.

While we do maintain some plugins internally, Kunena and Virtuemart have designed routing methods that allows full speed url constructions, something a separate extension cannot do as it will have to make more use of database to build the URL. So instead of doing things that slower way, we have decided to enter a partnership with Kunena and Virtuemart by which we'll directly use their router. For now, they don't allow tailoring the URLs, but that will come in the future, at least for Virtuermart, and we'll integrate that in due time.

This approach also has the added benefit to be “future-proof”, as any change in URL design by those extension will be automatically taken into account by sh404SEF without the need for an upgrade, meaning that Kunena/VM upgrades will never break sh404SEF or vice versa.

The downside is that we had to remove the ability to customize the URLs in a manner similar to previous versions, but again, this will come to VM and probably Kunena, just like RedShop or K2 have dedicated sh404SEF URL customization right now.

We hope you understand the reasons for this change apologize for any inconvenience.

sh404SEF simply uses Kunena router.php file to rewrite Kunena SEF URLs.

It is not in our interests to comment upon or dispute claims made by other Joomla developers but an important point needs to be made about the message I have just quoted. There is no formal partnership arrangement between the Kunena project and anything-digital.com. People who choose to purchase and download sh404SEF do so in the realisation that, at this time, sh404SEF is not fully compatible with Kunena.

If people have any problems with Kunena while using sh404SEF then they should contact the sh404SEF team directly.
