Introduction

The Kunena team is proud to announce the arrival of Kunena 5.1.0 [K5.1.0] which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for Joomla 3.8.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 5.0 and issues discovered during the development stages of K 5.1.

Kunena 5.1 is a project that has been a year in the making.

What's different?

Upgrading to K 5.1 involves changes that may affect Kunena's interoperability with other extensions installed on your site. For this reason it is advisable that you first test K 5.1.0 on a test site before you upgrade your live production site(s). At this stage the team is not treating interoperability with other Joomla extensions as the topmost priority. The main priority at this time is about installation/upgrade and operability as a standalone Joomla component.

Changes to the operation of the forum at this website following the release of K 5.1.0

The release of K 5.1 for J! 3.8.x is a major achievement. The development of K 5.1 was an important opportunty to overhaul the old K 5.0 code base. The K5.0.14 was the last K5.0.x build.

Core:

Removed < PHP 5.6.8 Support

Removed < Joomla 3.8 Support

The follow improvements we made into the core:

  • More triggers for 3rt party developers
  • More security improvements

New Features:

  • HTML5 audio and video support
  • Ajax upload avatars
  • Add option to disable signatures
  • Option: set default avatar
  • FA Icons in kunena menu
  • Sub menu items on kunena menu
  • Hide E-mail - Be able to show email only to registered users
  • 2 editors: wysiwyg and bbcode (plugins works only with bbcode editor)
  • Feature: add option to disable personal message
  • Feature: add option to disable social
  • Smart URL autolinking
  • Feature: Optional username display
  • Restore the ability to see deleted posts in recent topics
  • Topic Template
  • Open graph support (facebook/twitter/ect)
  • Improve microdata

Change users details:

Now you can edit all users details by the backend.

Template Improvements:

we have made some template improvements.

Any donations are needed for future support.

New Template

New website is coming after the summer.

Plugins and modules are also updated and ready for Kunena 5.1.

Blue Eagle Template

A new RC will be availible on the download page from the template page.

Excuse for the Dutch lingo. Yes, after the update I cannot place any topics here on the forum.

My problem is that the RSS feeds do not work any more and the RSS icon is no longer at the bottom of the page. I use the Blue Eagle template of Kunena

Na installatie 5.1 werkt de RSS feed niet meer en de template toont ook het RSS-icoon niet onder aan de pagina's.

I can confirm this issue. Seveal texts like this are showing up for me at different places.

@810 I made a post in The Kunena Project > K 5.1 Support - I hope that is the right place.
There I provided a more detailed description and my configuration report.

We have now enabled css avatars as default. This is looking better. But if you don't like it or have issue's then use this option: backend - kunena - config -avatars - Default avatar type set to "Image"

Many errors after updating.

Categorie titles link to profile.
Categorie title gives a 404 error

COM_KUNENA_MESSAGE_REPLIED_NEW in topic post ,....
When i log in, all urls got sitename/profile/categorie .......
Why profile is in the URL?


Ánd WHY THE HELL ALL OF MY POSTS ARE DELETET WHERE I ASK FOR EMOJI?

Default joomla, no extensions, only Kunena.
Is this even tested?

After I updated to 5.1, I got this error message, "Rendering Error in layout Widget/Menu: Unsupported operand types. Please enable debug mode for more information."

Yes we have it on our todo list. But we are waiting for a native joomla integration. Maybe J4.0. But we will look at it.

Add mp3 and mp4 or other media types to the upload extensions type.

Then you will able to upload the file, and then it will be displayed as html5 video/mp3

If we proceed there, we can see K5.1.0 RC7, but no stable release available to download yet.
Yes, we can take the stable version from Github, but some users may download RC version from the official site...
